Departure from Puerto Montt or Puerto Varas heading down the Pan-American Highway to Pargua from where the ferry awaits to cross the Canal de Chacao (around 30 minutes voyage). Once on the island of Chiloé we continue to the small charming fishing and market village of Dalcahue .
A visit is made to the “Nuestra Señora de los Dolores” church, a National Heritage Monument , and the Historical Ethnic Museum dedicated to the history of the Chonos and Huilliches indigenous peoples of the area.
A special feature of Dalcahue is the Sunday Craft Market, the most important on the island where traders and crafts people come from outlying smaller islands to sell their goods such as a variety of woolen ware, wooden crafts, basketry and homemade.
